Pet Policy
1740 House Pet Policy
- Any legal service animal is permitted in spaces allowed to the general public in compliance with all ADA regulations and is not considered a “pet” per ADA guidelines.
- 1740 House has only one room that is “pet-friendly” for non-service animals – Room 2. Reservations for guests with pets are based on availability of this one room, and the 1740 House can not guarantee that the room will be available for your planned trip. Room 2 is reserved on a first come, first serve basis.
- Only one pet per night per room is allowed in a room.
- If room 2 is unavailable, the 1740 House may under certain circumstances and with approval of ownership, allow pets in another 1st floor room. This must be agreed to in advance by both Innkeeping and Housekeeping staffs; and confirmed by the guest during the booking process.
- Any pet staying at the inn (including in Room 2) must be approved in email prior to guest’s arrival and must be confirmed at the time of booking. If guests show up without prior confirmation of pet permission, the 1740 reserves the right to refuse to allow the pet to stay on property, and the owner will be charged all costs associated with the room.
- 1740 House assesses an automatic “pet fee” of $50.00 per night, up to $100 for multi-night stays. This allows for additional cleaning of the room, removal of pet dander, and any other services required to ensure the room is available for other guests.
- Pets must be leashed at all times while on property. Pet waste must be bagged and disposed of by the owner. If 1740 House is required to clean up after a pet, there will be a $25 charge per incident.
- Owners are responsible for ensuring the noise volume of their pets, and that any barking does not disturb other guests in the inn or common areas. If there is a complaint of excessive barking, the innkeeper will make the guest aware. If there is a second complaint, the guest and pet may be asked to leave at their own expense. No refund will be provided if the guest is asked to leave because of their pet’s behavior.
- 1740 House does not provide bedding for pets.
- Pets are not allowed on furniture, including couches and beds. Additional cleaning fees may be assessed if pets are on any furniture.
- Pets are not to be washed in tubs at the 1740 House. Additional cleaning fees may be assessed if pets are found to have been washed in tubs at the 1740 House during guests stay.
- Pets must be crated when left unattended in the room.
- Pets are not permitted in any food service area in compliance with all relevant health and hygiene codes.
- There are no breed restrictions.
